» SADDLE MOUNTAIN / TONOPAH, AZ
Circuit: Past Events
Great hiking and 4 wheeling with fabulous views along with petroglyphs. Saddle Mountain is one of the last places in central Arizonia that offers unbelievable solitude, positioned near metropolitan Phoenix and butting up against the development that fans out from major artery I-10 west. The side canyons that surround and penetrate the two mountain masses that form the saddle provide a remoteness that carries visitors away from the hustle and bustle of city and sprawling suburban centers. Rugged canyons, towering cliffs, and rock spires offer spectacular scenery and a sense of escape from modern life.
Saddle Mountain Dispersed BLM. South off W Courthouse Rd. Between mile marker 12 and 13 across the 50 mph sign, stay to the left to get to the foot of the mountain. Check out the spots at N33.45407,W113.057
Turn off Salome Hwy onto Courthouse Rd. And any gravel road on your left is good for camping up to 14 days. Some roads are rocky and narrow while others large with many level spots about a mile back. Saddle Mountain Ranch (not RV Park) provides dump, potable water and garbage disposal for any RVers in the area for about $15.
