Take the ferry to Isle Royale National Park for hiking, kayaking and scuba diving. Tour the Quincy Mine and the Coppertown Mining Museum to learn all about the history of the area where mining was king. Stop by Sheldons Bakery for an old miners favorite dinner – a pasty (pasties are filled with meats and vegetables). The ghost town of Delaware including the Delaware Copper Mine. Travel along scenic highway 41 and stop at the Jampot for an afternoon treat. Tour the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum to learn about the areas interesting rocks and minerals. Breakfast at Suomi Diner is a must. Boat tour of the lighthouses. Visit Houghton College for Rock Museum (free).

From US-41 in Houghton, take a slight left onto Shelden Ave, immediately turn right onto Portage Canal Lift Bridge, in .5 mi turn left onto Quincy St, remain on Quincy St. until you come to Hancock Recreation Area on the left. Reservations recommended, use online system cityofhancock.com/recreation-beach-campground.php $22/day for electric. Restrooms, showers and laundry available.
