Visit the 9/11 Memorial Park featuring a 4K-lb steel beam once part of the Twin Towers. Gatlin Archaeological Park was excavated in 1959, a major Hohokam trade route. Visit the Gila Bend Museum and the Gillespie Dam Bridge, built in 1927 and on the Natl Register of Historic Places. Tour the Painted Rock Petroglyph site and the Sonoran Desert Natl Monument.
Painted Rock Petroglyph Campground, 46101 Rocky Point Road. Approximately 12.5 miles west of Gila Bend. Picnic tables, grill, fire rings and a vault toilet. No potable water. $8 a nite or $4 with senior pass.
From Wickenburg, US 60 east to AZ 303 loop S ramp then turn right to I-10 towards Los Angeles. Take exit 112 to AZ-85, take I-8 towards Yuma. Exit I-8 at painted Rock Dam Rd/exit 102, north on Painted Rocks Dam Rd. 10.7 miles to Rocky Point Rd.
