Activity Ideas

Get your RV serviced with parts at a 10% discount. There will be kayaking at Watson Lake, and lots of hiking. We will visit the historic Prescott town square and old bars and buildings in the area. Little Dealer will give us seminars on RV maintenance or financing, and many other perks of parking here. There will be karaoke and dancing, and a presentation on spring sky at the Embry Riddle Planetarium.

Directions and Other Information

Take AZ 260 back to I-17. From I-17 south to Hwy 169 to Hwy 69. Right (West) about 6 miles to Little Dealers. Water and dump available. Free parking, meeting room available. No hookups. Get your mail at either the Dewey post office or the Prescott post office.

Sandal Trail: paved trail leads to overlook of Betatakin/Talastima cliff dwelling (1-mile round trip).
Aspen Trail: branches off Sandal Trail to descend 300 feet to view ancient aspen forest (0.8-mile round trip).
Canyon View Trail: view of head of Betatakin Canyon; leads to campground (0.6-mile round trip).

Directions and Other Information

From Flagstaff take US 89 north to US 160 east to AZ 564 northwest to monument headquarters. The campground is a tenth of a mile away from the visitor center on an unpaved road. It is free, quiet, and has fine canyon views on both sides. There are composting toilets, charcoal grills, and no water; water is available at Sunset View campground. People enjoy this campground for its silence and spectacular night skies. Open campfires are not allowed throughout the whole park.

The Navajo Reservation is on Daylight Savings Time - 1 hour ahead of Arizona time.

Go NW on US 89 thru Kanab to ½ mi. before Mt Carmel Jct at the bottom of long grade. Parking is on the right at a large gravel storage. Mt Carmel Jct is the junction of US 89 and UT 9 ( east entrance to Zion National Park).
