2021/22 Florida Winter Circuit

21-22 Florida Winter Circuit

This circuit will start in Pensacola, FL early in early November and will continue down the Gulf Coast side of Florida. After spending Christmas and New Years Eve in Punta Gorda, the circuit will continue to the Everglades, after a stop near Miami, the circuit will continue up central area and east coast of Florida. Activities will include hiking, biking, kayaking and of course sightseeing. The number of participants will need to be limited to around 12 due to the size of the locations. It is strongly recommended that you have an Elks and Moose membership as some of the lodges require membership to stay there. There are a few places that require reservations and they are noted as such. A circuit leader has not yet been identified. LAKE CITY, FL

Tube or kayak at the Itchetucknee Springs State Park and visit OLeno State Park, built in by the CCC in the mid 1930s. OLena is also part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. There is a bike trail that connects these 2 state parks. Kayak on the Sante Fe River which has several springs, there are a couple of places where part of the river falls and travels underground until it rises. The Olustee Battlefield State Park, the site of Floridas largest Civil War battle is also nearby.

Kayaking at its best! Kayak on the beautiful Crystal River to access Three Sisters Spring, home to the largest population of manatees. There are several bike paths, including the Withlacoochee Trail and the Suncoast Trail.

Turn right at entrance gate. – Fee – ($27 annual non-resident permit covers all WMA areas – If you are a senior AND a resident of Florida, you do NOT need a permit. ALL OTHER campers should have a State of Florida Fish and Wildlife Recreation Permit, available from sporting goods stores and Wal-Mart (hunting and fishing counter) for $27. It’s good for one year. Even though there is not a charge for the camp site, RESERVATIONS NEED TO BE MADE ASAP AT https:/mfw.com/recreation/camping. No fees, but you will get an email with a form that is to be displayed in your RV.

From US 441 at Kenansville, take FL Hwy 523 (Canoe Creek Road) 11 miles NW. Park entrance is on the left (west) – at intersection of FL Hwy 523 and Rd 5B.
If you are a senior AND a resident Florida, you do NOT need a permit. ALL OTHER campers should have a State of Florida Fish and Wildlife Recreation Permit, available from sporting goods stores and Wal-Mart (hunting and fishing counter) for $27. It’s good for one year and officials here have occasionally stopped individuals and demanded to see their permit. Basically, there is no camping time limit, just hunting season restrictions.
Nearest dump and water and propane: 8.5 miles south of Three Lakes WMA is at Lake Marian Paradise Marina and RV Resort 901 Arnold Road, Kenansville, FL 34739
This is a wide-open field with lots of RVs, about 35 miles south of the Orlando area. It is a very popular spot with nearly unlimited space. No reservations are required.
